The
Scriptures
23
1 The Lord is my shepherd,* I shall lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,* he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.* He guides me in paths or righteousness for his
name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear
no evil,* for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.* You anoint
my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,* and I
will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Glory be to the Father and to the
Son* and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning,* is now, and will be
forever. Amen
51
1 Have mercy on me, 0 God, according to your unfailing love;* according to
your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity* and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,* and my sin is always before me. Against
you, only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight,* so that you are
proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I have been a sinner from birth,* sinful from the time my mother
conceived me.
6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts;* you teach me wisdom in the
inmost place.
7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;* wash me, and I will be
whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;* let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins* and blot out all my iniquity.
10 Create in me a pure heart, 0 God,* and renew a steadfast spirit within
me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence* or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation* and grant me a willing spirit,
to sustain me.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,* and sinners will turn back to
you.
14 Save me from bloodguilt, 0 God, the God who saves me,* and my tongue will
sing of your righteousness.
15 0 Lord, open my lips,* and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;* you do not take
pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;* a broken and contrite heart,
0 God, you will not despise.
18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper;* build up the walls of
Jerusalem.
19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight
you;* then bulls will be offered on your altar. Glory be to the Father and to
the Son* and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning,* is now, and will
be forever. Amen

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;* let us shout aloud t the Rock of
our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving* and extol him with music and
song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,* the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,* and the mountain peaks belong
to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,* and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,* let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker;
7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,* the flock under
his care. Today you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,* as you did that day at
Massah in the desert,
9 where your fathers tested and tried me,* though they had
seen what I did.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;* I said, "They are
a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways."
11 So I declared on oath in my anger, "They shall never enter my
rest." Glory be to the Father and to the Son* and to the Holy Spirit; as it
was in the beginning,* is now, and will be forever. Amen
117
1 Praise the Lord, all you nations,* extol him, all you
2 For great is his love toward us,* and the faithfulness of the Lord
endures forever. Praise the Lord. Glory be to the Father and to the Son* and to
the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning,* is now, and will be forever. Amen

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-* where does my help come
2 My help comes from the Lord,* the Maker of heaven and
3 He will not let your foot slip-* he who watches over you
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel* will neither slumber
5 The Lord watches over you-* the Lord is your shade at
6 the sun will not harm you by day, * nor the moon by night.

3 If you, 0 Lord, kept a record of sins,* 0 Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,* therefore you are
feared.
5 I
wait for the Lord, my soul waits,* and in his word I put
my hope.
6 My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for
the morning,* more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7 0 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,* for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem Israel* from all their sins. Glory be to the
Father and to the Son* and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning,* is
now, and will be forever. Amen
